We have owned Les Hauts de Gaubil for more than 10 years now and there has never been a waking moment when we have regretted buying this beautiful house and home. We have learnt over time how thoughtfully it was designed by the architect, who is our nearest neighbour living a mile away, and the house lends itself naturally to families and parties. It is never better than when full. The views from the house are quite exceptional, and breakfast or lunch on the veranda over the pool and looking on to the Pyrenees some 60 miles away, never cease to calm the spirit and be uplifting as so many of our tenants have commented upon. This is true provincial France with its traditional values unspoilt from the remorseless advances of life.  With 2 hours for lunch and where traffic wardens don't work, we think the locals have got their priorities right.

The house is off the beaten track, which gives total privacy. The nearest village Roullens is 2 miles however, Preixan which has shopping is 5 miles away. Carcassonne and Limoux are only 20 minutes away and for the seaside, Gruissan and Port Leucate are 45 minutes to an hour away. Walking in the area through the many vineyards is wonderful and our efficient and unobtrusive caretaker Monsier Guthmuller, who has been with us since we very first arrived, is responsible for all the walks signage in the region and is a mine of information. He comes daily to clean the pool.

One of the unique benefits of the property is that it is 15 minutes from Carcassonne airport which is dominated by Ryanair. They now have several British and Irish destinations including Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow, Dublin, and Shannon. There are very few local properties that provide such exquisite views, total privacy yet incredibly easy access from the UK.
