Character

A beautiful and substantial villa with spectacular panoramic views of the Pyrenees... in fact an artist's paradise!

     

Layout

The house is divided into two... a main house and an annexe with an outdoor al fresco dining area in between the two buildings. There you can either enjoy a BBQ or use the pizza/bread oven; the French like to call this "la cuisine d'été".

The main house comfortably sleeps six people with a large sitting room and dining area with an open plan kitchen.

     

There are three bathrooms with a conveniently situated shower to use after swimming. The annexe has a North African feel with a Moroccan fireplace... the ideal place for teenagers to congregate! There is a kitchenette with microwave and three bedrooms that can sleep seven people. There is a bathroom and a separate toilette. The property is probably not suitable for young toddlers under the age of five.

The Grounds

Outside, total privacy is relished as the property is made up of 14 hectares, which are mostly forest and an orchard. The nearest neighbour is half a mile away.

     

There is a large swimming pool with diving board, a brand new hard tennis court and a small terraced garden.

Location

The nearest village is about ten minutes away. The nearest supermarkets and big shops are at either Carcassonne (15 minutes) or at Limoux (20 minutes); or local shops at La Valette (12 minutes).

Carcassonne is a fascinating town with a medieval walled city where the movie “Robin Hood Prince of Thieves” was filmed. There is a golf course at Carcassonne and horse riding at the local campsite. The seaside is about 45 minutes drive, whilst Spain is only a 90 minute drive. Roullens is situated in between Carcassonne and Limoux and both these towns have their own annual festivals. Limoux is where they make the sparkling white wine, known as “Blanquette de Limoux” which is supposed to have originated before champagne!
